Description

We are using the file bridge at University Of Illinois at Springfield and we like the way it works. The only problem we have run into is that our instructors create their courses in a gold course and then copy them to the production course. We have a problem when we copy the course because the file bridge links no longer work. They error says that the students are not registered in the course. The students are registered in the new course but not the gold course where the links were created. We noticed that the link contains the name of the original course that the link was created in. Is there a way for us to write a utility that would allow the instructor to update the links after copying the course without re-creating all the links?

I moved this feature request from the old issue tracking system (Patricia), although it was created by Thomas Sidener. Andrew Fitzpatrick at the University of Illinois, Springfield, will be working on creating a new tool within File Bridge, that can be used by instructors to overcome the problem above. Ideally, this tool would do the following:
- Be a control panel tool available for instructors
- Present the instructor with two inputs: 1- A content area within <course 1> FROM which links should be copied, 2- A content area within <course 2> TO which links should be copied.
- Notify the instructor when all the links have successfully been copied, possibly returning the user to the content area in course 2.
Andrew, please feel free to add your comments, and update this issue as you start working on this project.
